Sophia Bush Gives Us a Tour of the Renovation of Her 1950s Los Angeles Bungalow

See exclusive footage of the actress sharing her plan for restoring the historic home.

Sophia Bush is a well-known actress, but you probably had no idea that she also has an impressive knack for interior design. The star is putting her design skills to the test and giving the world a glimpse into her aesthetic, which she describes as “midcentury modern eclectic.” As part of an exclusive partnership with Siweb, Bush is taking us along for the ride as she teams up with her contractor, , to renovate a classic midcentury bungalow in the Hollywood Hills.

A new video features Bush opening up about her vision for the home—a property she actually lived right next door to—and eventually purchased with the intention of transforming it into an urban farm. After planting nearly 60 trees on the property, Bush began renovating the 1,600-square-foot space. Though she originally thought of the renovation as a cosmetic facelift, she quickly realized the house needed to be reworked down to its bones. From an uneven foundation to outdated galvanized pipes, Bush had no choice but to settle on a complete gut renovation.

In the video, Bush walks through the construction site with her contractor, offering up details on how each space will come to life. She begins by explaining the overall aesthetic she envisions for the home. "The whole front of the house will be able to open because it's California, and indoor-outdoor is the vibe," she says. To brighten up the space, she's opted for eco-friendly terrazzo tile made from recycled materials. Bush then gives us a look at the master bedroom, which will feature a closet with floor-to-ceiling cabinets and a stunning view of the canyon.

Plus, the master bathroom will be outfitted with glass square terracotta-colored tiles, matte black fixtures, as well as a spacious shower and bathtub. "This space is going to be really, really special," adds Prince.

Next, Bush shares details about the kitchen, where she'll install eye-catching custom cabinets and a large island with bar stools. Overall, the kitchen will have an airy feel that reflects the home's California-cool vibe. "There will be space for a dining table so when you pull the glass back, you can really feel like you're dining indoor outdoor."

The living room will be just as striking, and there is one particular highlight that Bush and her contractor are excited about: "There's also a six-foot slider...which will give you access to this really intimate, beautiful, lush garden," Prince explains. The video closes with Bush dishing about a small bathroom and two additional bedrooms—one of which will be Bush's office—that will be positioned off the kitchen.

So, if you've ever renovated a home or are simply curious about how a celebrity tackles one, stay tuned for updates of Bush's progress over the next few months and the final result. You won't be disappointed.
