While finishing up his master's degree in architecture at the University of Minnesota, wanted to try and come up with something a little different for his final project. So he bought an old school bus for $3,000 off Craigslist and converted it into a tiny cabin. "I was tired of drawing buildings that would never exist," he writes on his website. "I prefer to work with my hands."

Hank was able to turn the old school bus into a simple yet modern getaway that can house as many as 12 people at a time. The total cost of the improvements? About $6,000.

There are four main sections of the bus: a bathroom, kitchen, seating area, and bedroom. Each section is approximately 28 square inches, including the aisle.

The seating section of the bus is one of the most versatile parts of the small interior space: It can be changed to incorporate a queen-sized bed, regular seating with storage, or working and dining tables.

In the sleeping area, the modules can be transitioned into two twin-sized beds or a queen-sized bed with a twin attached. This area of the bus also allows for a lot of storage space.

In 2013 Hank set out to travel 5,000 miles across the U.S. in his cabin bus, picking up and dropping off friends and family along the way. You can learn more about Hank's journey and the construction of the bus .
