Welcome to our series, "At Home with...," where we sit down with our favorite design tastemakers to learn about the inspiration behind key spaces in their home.

If you have an Instagram account, chances are you know . The L.A.-based fashion and lifestyle blogger–best known as –has attracted a cult-like following of over five million fans with whom she shares her life as an ultra-influencer and professional aesthete. Running a comprehensive lifestyle blog, documenting her world on a Youtube vlog, and serving as the ambassador for a slew of luxury brands are just a few aspects of the dreamlike balancing act that is Song’s real life.

What you may not know about Song, however, is that her background is actually in interior design. Having studied architecture and worked professionally in the field, Song attributes much of her fashion sense to her interior architect background. Her design sensibility isn't far from her approach to fashion: She favors colorful eclectics that stand the test of time. To craft a house that embodies her personal character is to craft a space that feels like home. “As someone who travels more than 300 days out of the year, my home is more than a sanctuary–it's my life raft,” Song says. “It's the one place where I can decompress, live my life, and totally be myself.” Song recently released a lifestyle book, , which details her travels over the past 10 years; a trove that's less of a highlight reel and more of an honest journey. And just like the contents of her book, her home is a constantly evolving reflection of who she is at her core.

“I think that when you have an idea of what you really love, your space can come together pretty effortlessly.” Now, Aimee Song sits down with ED to tell us about how she pulled off her dream.

“When we began renovating the home, space planning was most important. It’s a 1920’s house with many small rooms, and our goal was to open it up while still respecting the structure and architecture. In the living room, I wanted to create a layered feel by means of rich texture. I opted for a vintage Mario Bellini sofa and a rug I purchased in Morocco. By incorporating pieces from my travels into my home décor, I’m able to find harmony in my jet set life while creating a sense of ‘home’.”

“For the master bedroom, I wanted to keep everything very simple. I’m constantly surrounded by ‘things,’ so keeping the design of my own room clean was really important. When it comes to fashion, my personal style has always had a very feminine and polished feel. When I'm putting an outfit together, I love incorporating elements of both high fashion and more accessible pieces in order to create a look that's artful yet wearable. I think that same sentiment came together when it came to decorating my bedroom.”

“I didn’t want a typical all-white kitchen, though I also didn’t want it to feel too this or too that. I decided on a muted green for the cabinets with white, three-inch marble countertops as opposed to the traditional one-inch counters. Surprisingly enough, the kitchen is where I saved money–choosing Ikea cabinets with fronts allowed me to create a more custom look without it being super expensive. The floors are original to the home, which gave the space additional character and balanced old with new.”

"The guest bedroom has a truly classic feel. I love juxtaposing pieces that have a high art element with pieces that are easy to live in. The result is a space that's eclectic yet curated. Naturally, I have a pretty consistent palette and idea of what I like, so all of the pieces came together pretty seamlessly.

"I wanted to personalize all of my floors and countertops to create a space you won't find anywhere else. I love gold hardware, which is why I chose these fixtures for the guest bathroom. I paired the gold with rich, dark-veined marble, which balanced beautifully with the original floors. I drew a lot of inspiration from midcentury modern architecture and organic shapes, which was the driving force behind the feeling I wanted to create."

Main Closet

“Instead of having one giant space, I broke my closet up into a lot of smaller, dedicated spaces with built in shelving. I don’t have a lot of time to organize, so breaking things up made finding different pieces much easier. I dedicate my drawers to smaller items like bras, socks, and bikinis, while the bigger pieces are either folded on shelves or hung up. Dresses are organized by length, shoes are organized by type, jeans and sweaters are folded, and tops are organized by color and material.”

“I decided to create a separate closet that was dedicated to accessories–jewelry, sunglasses, perfume, and so on. The additional space gives me room to pack and unpack and try on outfits in the morning. As you can imagine, my job makes it easy for clothes to pile up, so I purge my closet once a month to control how much I have.”

"More so than furniture, hardware is my favorite thing about home renovations and redecorating. Tiles, marble, and flooring are really where I let my creativity run wild...When I worked in interior design, I was actually much more drawn to creating unique designs with tiles and marbles, and that's definitely the number one thing people comment on when they come to my house!"
