At the beginning of the Harry Potter series, we see a young Harry living in a cupboard under the stairs of his aunt and uncle's home. The house, at 4 Privet Drive, gets turned upside down after Harry gets his invitation to Hogwarts, and gets a visit from Hagrid. And now, you can actually live where it all started, since the house from the movies is now up for sale.
reports that the house isn't actually at 4 Privet Drive in Little Whingeing, Surrey, of course, but instead at 12 Picket Post Close in Martins Heron, Bracknell. Filming took place there for the first Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, and the rest of the scenes took place on a film set.
The home, , has been extensively renovated since the filming in 2001. There's a refitted kitchen and breakfast room, a new driveway and garage door, and a landscaped backyard with a large patio. And there is indeed a cupboard under the stairs, but it's not the same as in the movies. Sorry to break it to you, but it's just storage space.
The three-bedroom detached home has shot up in value over the years, reports. The last time the house was sold was in 2003, and it went for £249,000 ($325,000).Take a look at the inside of the home, and see how Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon have clearly cleaned up the place.
