Fans of interior design will be pleased to hear that around 2,500 pieces of furniture from one of the world's leading luxury hotels will be available to buy at auction later this month.
The five-star Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park is selling fixtures and fittings including armchairs, chandeliers and cabinets as it prepares for an £85 million renovation.
The sale will give customers the chance to invest in unique Regency and Georgian furnishings, but as the points out, it's also a good opportunity for celebrity admires to buy items which are likely to have been used by the hotel's A-list clientele over the years. (Morgan Freeman, Dame Helen Mirren and Rihanna are just a few of the names on the Mandarin Oriental Group's list of ".")
The 18-month transformation is being led by interior designer Joyce Wang and will see the refurbishment of all the bedrooms and suites, as well as a redesign of the entrance, lobby and reception areas.
The facade of the 19th century building and the two restaurants, Dinner by Heston Blumenthal and Bar Boulud, will also be renovated. While the hotel will remain open during the project, the spa will close for six months from June 2017 when expansion work begins.
The three-day auction will be run by ProAuction from 24-26 October at London's Millennium Knightsbridge hotel. As for the prices? It's probably not the place to find a bargain. The items are expected to reach a total of £200,000 to £250,000.
