Looking at this glam Hollywood Regency-style office space, you'd never guess that it once functioned as a garage for storage.

After making over the rest of their Spanish-style home in Los Angeles, Rebecca and knew it was time to give this space new life as well.

"We were previously using our small-ish third bedroom as an office, but it was kind of crowded and uninspiring," Rebecca says.

Rebecca, who works in fashion, and Jared, a photographer, needed a warm and creative space they could use on days they'd be working from home.

Their search led them out to their garage, which required quite a bit of work before it could be used as an office and poolside hangout. Not only did the Raskinds have to frame and drywall the area where the original garage door was, they also had to demo the wall facing the pool in order to install the huge 12' sliding doors.

Also on their to-do list: Drywalling the ceiling, installing flooring and adding small windows along the back and, of course, painting.

White storage cabinets, which double as a bar, were also added, with brass hardware being swapped in for silver in order to achieve a more high-end look.

Once the major renovations were done, the couple turned to of to help bring their vision of Hollywood Regency decor, with touches of mid-century modern and bohemian California to life.

"It was a designer’s match made in heaven," Petrie says. "I knew right away that it was going to be a fun, fashion-forward project met with fresh ideas."

While the space certainly gives off relaxed vibes, it still manages to stun with chic details, from a 1970s rattan chair to the bold wallpaper from .

"As soon as we knew we were converting this room into a home office I knew immediately I wanted to incorporate banana leaf wallpaper for an accent wall," Rebecca says. "The color is so vibrant and gives that Hollywood Regency vibe we were going for."

Also along the back wall, a rattan screen cleverly conceals a less-than-stylish air conditioner. Together with the peacock chair, and lush indoor plants, the mix of pieces adds a bohemian feel.

You'll also find little black and white touches, like the striped rug or plaid throw pillows, which Petrie added to help unify the wild texture and pattern.

The central seating area is anchored by a retro-style tufted sofa, mid-century chairs draped in sheepskin throws, a Sputnik light fixture and gold accessories, making for the ultimate indoor-outdoor space to either sit with your laptop or simply just hang out by the pool.

In fact, the couple uses the space regularly for both work and entertaining.

"When we’re not working, it’s so nice to just hang out in here with the sliding doors open, looking out at the pool, reading or relaxing," Rebecca says.

If there's one thing you can learn from this stylish office makeover, don't be afraid to take risks.

"If you truly want to freshen up a space and make it one you can call your own, consider what makes you happy and inject it into your overall design," Petrie says. "Mixing up the old with the new is a great way to not break the bank and it allows you to create a space that should be a true reflection of who you are."
