On Sunday night's episode of Nate Berkus's new show, American Dream Builders, we were introduced to a pair of completely empty lofts in downtown Los Angeles. Each team had the task of coming up with a well-planned layout and a strong theme. Team Red decided that the owner of their loft was a gay male fashion executive and their goal was to combine high style, modern function, and masculine tones. Lukas Machnik was tasked with designing the kitchen.
"The dining room and kitchen are kind of a special project because it is definitely a reflection of who I am," Machnik says. "Turning an ordinary kitchen into the aesthetic of my design." He added a European pantry wall, a minimalist kitchen island, and a long dining room table.
Details really make a difference in this space. The judges were impressed with the dining table, which was not only beautiful, but styled in a great way. They were also impressed with the beveled kitchen island, which gave the space a clean, streamlined look.
