London hasn't always been, shall we say, a go-to culinary destination.
But the dining scene has of late, and Ralph Lauren is the latest notable to add his name to the roster of must-eat destinations. Today, the preppy fashion icon will open Ralph's Coffee & Bar on Regent Street there, adjacent to the new European flagship store of Polo Ralph Lauren.
Featuring saddle-leather banquettes, a brass-topped bar, dark wood paneling and equestrian artwork everywhere, the room is inspired by the in Manhattan (Lauren also has restaurants in Chicago and Paris). But with seating for only 24 at tables and room for an additional 12 at the bar, it's definitely a more intimate environment.
In addition to a custom , Ralph's Coffee & Bar will serve a selection of classic cocktails and light bites. Expect to see a cocktails such as an Old Fashioned and Ridgway Margarita (named for the designer's Double RL Ranch in Ridgway, Colorado) along with bar snacks like fried olives and mixed nuts.
