Most of us spend the first weeks and months of the New Year working hard on our resolutions — from nipping pack rat tendencies in the bud, to creating a more mindful home. Increasingly, one of the most popular New Year's resolutions is a commitment to "dry January," which requires pledgees to swear off booze until February 1st in an effort to detox and reset.
If you've made it all the way through the month, well, you've earned a cocktail. Here are a few stylish options to ring in the end of dry January.
1 oz. Cointreau
2 oz. Botanist Gin
1 oz. Fresh Lemon Juice
(Egg white optional)
Combine all ingredients with ice in a mixing glass. Shake and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with lemon twist.
1 1/4 oz Hibiscus Tea Simple Syrup
2 oz Silver
1/2 oz Fresh Squeezed Lime Juice
2 oz Club Soda
Rim with Citrus Salt
Measure all ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake for 10 seconds. Strain mixture into a margarita glass, and top with club soda. Serve over ice in glass rimmed with citrus salt.
2 oz Sagamore Spirit Rye Whiskey
2 Dashes bitters
1 oz Sweet vermouth
Cherry or orange peel
Add ice to a glass pitcher. Stir in Sagamore Spirit Rye, bitters, and sweet vermouth. Add a cherry or orange peel to a martini glass. Strain cocktail into glass.
1 1/2 oz Tito's Handmade Vodka
3 oz Ginger Beer
1/2 oz Fresh Lime Juice
Fill a chilled mug with ice. Add fresh lime juice and Tito' Handmade Vodka. Add ginger beer. Stir. Garnish with a lime wedge.
3/4 oz Cointreau
2 oz Vodka
1/4 oz Cranberry juice
3/4 oz Fresh lime juice
1/2 oz Simple syrup (optional)
Combine all ingredients in a shaker. Shake vigorously with ice and strain into a coupe glass. Garnish with a lemon peel.
2 oz Sagamore Spirit Rye Whiskey
2 dashes Angostura bitters
1 oz Simple syrup
1 Lemon peel
1/2 oz Club soda
Add ice to a glass pitcher. Stir in Sagamore Spirit Rye, Angostura bitters, simple syrup, and club soda. Strain into a double Old Fashioned glass over a large ice cube. Garnish with a lemon peel.
2 oz Red tomato juice, chilled
3/4 oz Vodka
1 tsp. Worcestershire
1 tsp. Maille Dijon Horseradish
1/2 tsp. Lemon juice
4 dashes Hot pepper sauce
Pinch black pepper
Pinch celery salt
Pinch smoked paprika
Combine ingredients (except c) in shaker. Serve in ice-filled glass. Garnish with one or two .
3 or 4 dashes Gum syrup (or sugar syrup)
2 dashes Bogart's bitters
1 wine glass (2 oz) of whiskey
Piece of a lemon peel
Fill one-third full of fine ice, shake and strain in a fancy wine glass.
3/4 oz Chambord Liqueur
1 1/2 oz E
3/4 oz Pomegranate juice
1/2 oz Lime juice
Raspberry and/or lime to garnish
Take a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Pour in Chambord, tequila, pomegranate juice and lime juice.Now shake, shimmy and strain into margarita or martini glass. Whatever takes your fancy. Add raspberry, or lime.
1 1/2 Patrón Tequila
3/4 Grady’s Cold Brew Syrup
3/4 Lime Juice
Garnish: Coffee Salt Rim
Fresh ginger, apricot preserves and a good whiskey set this drink up as a unique holiday classic. Serves 4.
6 Thin slices of fresh ginger
4 Teaspoons apricot jam
1 oz Fresh lemon juice
6 oz Whiskey
4 slivers Orange zest, twisted to bloom the oils
Muddle ginger, jam, lemon juice & orange zest in a cocktail shaker. Add the rest of the ingredients, shake, and pour through the strainer into a glass over ice.
1 bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon or grenache.
1 Granny Smith apple, cored, and chopped into cubes
1 Orange, sliced into half moons
1 cup Fresh orange juice
3 tablespoons Sugar (optional)
Combine the wine, apple, orange, orange juice, and sugar (if using) in a pitcher and stir gently. Cover and refrigerate to let flavors develop, at least for hours overnight. Fill wine glasses with ice cubes, add sangria, and serve.
