The mysterious might possibly be one of the most-anticipated museum openings in recent years. An entire decade after announcing the project (which was actually completed five years ago), it will officially open to the public on November 11, 2017.
The completed structure is the work of prolific French architect Jean Nouvel, who is also responsible for the Philharmonie de Paris and the soon-to-be MoMA skyscraper in New York City.
According to Curbed, the new Louvre is large enough to be considered its own "Museum City," with 23 galleries spread out across 55 buildings. The Emrati-inspired building also features a spectacular dome spanning 590 feet in diameter.
