Just south of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, lies the isolated (and dare we say somewhat exclusive) island of Nantucket. Peppered with cedar-shingled buildings, cobblestone streets, and dune-backed beaches, Nantucket is, perhaps, the ultimate summer getaway. Where to stay, you ask? We suggest at the newly redesigned —a historic inn, which originally opened in 1875, which just underwent a multi-million dollar facelift. Boston-based design firm spearheaded the restoration and renovation of the hotel’s lobby, library, and 32 guest bedrooms and cottages to create the perfect blend of luxury and comfort.
The rooms incorporate soft neutrals, tone-on-tone textiles, and nautical accents—but that's par for the course when it comes to a seaside resort. What's not par for the course are the four-poster beds topped with custom Pratesi by Rivolta linens and spacious bathrooms with walk-in showers and Carrara marble herringbone flooring. Luxury, meet comfort.
What’s more, The Wauwinet collaborated with to redesign the three-bedroom Anchorage house, across the street from the main inn, to be unveiled this summer on June 1 (check back for more details!).
So if you have a yen for sailing, private beach access, and clam-chowder-and-boiled-lobster seaside picnics (let’s be honest, who doesn’t envision stretching out on a blue-and-white striped blanket with the best of Nantucket’s cuisine in hand?), the refreshed Wauwinet is your best cedar-shingled bet.
