Outlined in a recent profile by , Hollar is a startup that is hoping to become the cost-savvy mom's answer to online shopping. : has a few ways of getting around the problems that have plagued other online dollar stores. It enforces a $10 order minimum in order to avoid losing money shipping a $1 item. It doesn't carry any heavy or oversized items, which are expensive to ship (no full-size bottles of laundry detergent, for example), nor does it sell perishables.

A quick look reveals items that you would indeed expect to find at a dollar store; shopping categories include toys, baby, beauty, electronics, and school supplies, to name a few. A silicone pot holder is $1, while "bigger ticket" items, like a mini bluetooth speaker or a wireless LES laptop light, are $5 apiece.
