Cushions can add a touch of style to a seemingly simple chair, make for a more comfortable place to sit, and now they're smarter—they know when you are sitting down and for how long. Developed by Japanese company , the "smart cushion" when coupled with an app on your smart phone emits a signal as someone takes a seat.
Unlike a luxurious fur throw that makes you not want to leave your spot on the couch, the "smart cushion" motivates you to get up and get moving. The cushioning system allows users to track just how much time they spend lounging in front of the TV or sitting, typing away on their computers at the office. Possibly the only decor item of its kind that makes you not want to sit down and relax.
The cushion is available in a bright orange or dark burgundy (shown), and is just under $20.
